Zenitel develops communication solutions for exposed areas such as ships, energy installations, train infrastructures and buildings. The products and solutions are delivered internationally and Zenitel has offices in 18 countries. Zenitel HQ is in Norway with offices in Horten, Oslo and Trondheim. This position will be based in Oslo, optionally in Horten.

Oslo R&D is based in pleasant premises at Torshov, Oslo. Zenitel also has R&D departments in Horten, England and Croatia. Zenitel R&D currently consists of 75 engineers, from recent graduates to engineers with over 35 years of work experience. The development department carries out product development from the idea phase to the industrialization of the products.

The software department in Norway consists of 11 developers.

The tasks will be varied, where you will get to work in interdisciplinary teams, be part of the R&D management team, have customer contact and work with the development of advanced communication products. With us, you will gain experience with an international organisation.

The software development manager will report to CTO.

Key responsibilities

• System owner of Zenitel Intelligent Communication Platform
  • Contribute as lead system architect in development projects
    • Currently Zenitel Intelligent Communication Platform has 2 development teams with a team/tech lead in each team
  • Develop and maintain technology roadmap for Zenitel Intelligent Communication Platform
• Maintain and build a strong software development team in Norway
  • HR + technology mentoring + improvements/how to

Key roles working close with the software development manager

• CTO
  • Close cooperation with CTO with regular 1-1 meetings
• R&D project manager
  • Project manager plan & follow up projects, maintenance & release management. To do this work Zenitel has project managers.
• Product manager
  • Project manager, product manager and software development manager forms core team in development projects
• Engineering in Zenitel business units

Short description of Zenitel Intelligent Communication Platform

Zenitel intelligent communication platforms manage Zenitel core IP offering (IP speakers, intercoms, PAVA and operator stations) and works as an integration hub towards 3rd party systems

The platform applies technologies such as webservices (REST, WebRTC), voice and video over IP, microservices (docker), zero-trust cybersecurity to name a few.

The software is deployed on Zenitel’s embedded hardware, but can also be deployed on virtualized Linux environments (VM, Cloud).

Competencies & experiences

• Higher education in the computer science or electrical engineering
• Experience in leading software teams and working with software engineering
• Experience with different development methodologies is an advantage
• Good communication skills orally and in writing in English
